The beauty of Janice's visual world lies in its patterns and colors. Because of low vision, many things that she sees start out as abstract images before she can identify them as objects. Janice tries to convey both those initial abstract perceptions in her art and also to represent the object. She knows when a picture is successful when the colors dance before her eyes. It is the feeling of completing a musical phrase, knowing the right balance between color and pattern. Colors, shapes and patterns speak to her and she delights in their voices.
